20 Years of Nature Parks in Lower Austria
17 April 2026
The Association of Lower Austrian Nature Parks, of which the Heidenreichsteiner Moor Nature Park is a member, has now been in existence for 20 years. This anniversary was celebrated at the Annual General Meeting held on 8 April 2026 in St. Pölten.
During the Annual General Meeting, the 20 Lower Austrian nature parks also adopted their joint Strategy 2030, which focuses on conservation, recreation, education and regional development.
These priorities also play a key role in the work of the Heidenreichstein Nature Park. In the coming years, the focus – alongside the protection of the moor – will be particularly on the further development of sustainable nature experience programmes and on strengthening regional cooperation.
Susanne Rosenkranz, the Provincial Councillor for Nature Conservation, also attended the General Assembly and emphasised the importance of nature parks as vital spaces for living, learning and recreation, as well as being powerful drivers of nature conservation and regional development. Chairman Werner Krammer highlighted the strengthened cooperation among the nature parks over the past two decades.
