- Route description The hiking trail starts at the bus stop in front of the impressive water castle. Over the Romaubrücke with a view of the castle pond to the right, you reach the Waldgasse. Then you turn left into the Sportgasse, which offers a view of the town of Heidenreichstein. After a steep ascent, you reach the forest stadium of FC Heidenreichstein. The tranquil path through the forest offers views of magnificent rock formations. From the intersection with the forest road, it is not far to the Gemeindeteich, a moor pond located in the middle of the forest, inviting you to linger. In summer, the pond host is open and offers refreshments and on Sundays roast pork and music. On the left pond bank there are benches for resting and enjoying the beautiful nature.The path continues through the forest along the dam of the Gemeindeteich. Before crossing the next forest road, you can make a detour to the Kleine Gemeindeteich. A long stretch of forest path follows, repeatedly marked with tree markers. Emerging from the forest, you can again see the town of Heidenreichstein with the beautiful castle. At a wayside shrine on the state road, the path turns right in the direction of Heidenreichstein. At the intersection with the B30, on the left is the traditional costume outlet and the B30, a pub for a short stop. On the way back, you pass the Lechner-Marterl in Schremser Straße. Here there is the opportunity to take a photo of the castle across the castle pond. Along the castle pond, over the roundabout, you turn right into Waidhofener Straße until you reach the starting point, the bus station in front of the Burgstüberl.
